With this launch, the AIR has entered into Digital Transmission era.
The AIR is transmitting these channels since June 19 from its 20 kW Medium Wave (MW) transmitter at Mall Road here, a statement released by the broadcaster said.
DRM or Digital Radio Mondiale is a digital radio standard that is designed specifically as a high quality digital replacement for current analogue radio broadcasting in Medium Wave, the statement added.
This digital transmission of the two channels can be heard through DRM receivers on 1368 kHz, it said. Officials said that while the quality of transmission is better, tuning into it requires DRM receivers.
These channels are also available in the FM mode.
