"We are hopeful that the leadership of India and Pakistan, in the interest of better future of the south Asian region, will demonstrate political determination to resolve long standing Kashmir issue. Hurriyat will extend all possible support in this meaningful exercise," the amalgam said in a statement after a joint meeting of its executive and general councils here.
Congratulating people of Pakistan for their "political maturity and farsightedness," Hurriyat said the people of the country have given a historic verdict despite odds to safeguard their future.
The meeting, chaired by Hurriyat chairman Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, also congratulated Muslim League chief Mian Nawaz Sharif for the victory and expressed hope that a new chapter of dialogue will be started to resolve all outstanding issues between the two countries.
