I-T dept conducts searches at DY Patil Group's educational

The Income Tax department today conducted searches at various educational institutes run by DY Patil Group in Navi Mumbai, Pune and Kolhapur.
Around 22 sleuths from the Income Tax department started searches at engineering, medical and pharmacy institutes, besides the offices of the group at around 8:30 AM, which continued till late in the evening.
"Simultaneous raids have been carried out at various educational institutes as well as residential premises of DY Patil Group in Navi Mumbai (Belapur), Pune and Kolhapur. The raids might continue tomorrow as well," a senior official of the I-T department in Pune said.
However, he did not clarify whether the searches were also conducted at residential premises of promoters of the group.

The searches were conducted by the office of the Director General (investigation), Mumbai, he said.
Despite repeated attempts, officials of DY Patil Group could not be reached for their comments. Repeated calls made to P D Patil, Chancellor, DY Patil deemed University, evoked no response.
Besides running various institutes, the group also has presence in sectors like healthcare, agribusiness, media and consultancy.
