I-T dept searches Jagathrakshakan's linked firms

The Income Tax department today conducted searches on the houses, hotels and educational institutions linked to senior DMK Leader and former Union Minister S Jagathrakshakan on charges of alleged tax evasion.
The raids that began early today were conducted at 40 places in Chennai and Puducherry, officials said.
"Some documents have been seized. The operation was carried out based on some inputs about alleged financial irregularities in the firms linked to the minister," they said
The minister or his officials could not be reached for comments.
