A sub-committee of the Mahatma Gandhi University here that probed charges of malpractices against Inspector General of Police T J Jose has found that he tried to copy during the LLM examination held in May this year.
The seven-member committee submitted its report to the MGU Pro-Vice Chancellor Sheena Shukoor today.
"Based on the evidences collected from the invigilators and students present in the exam hall, it is concluded that he has committed malpractices during examination," a member of the committee told reporters after submitting the report.
A decision based on the report would be taken by the next meeting of the syndicate, university sources said.
The university can even debar Jose from writing the examination for three years.
Jose was found allegedly trying to copy during an LLM examination held at the St Paul's College, Kalamassery on May 4 following which he was asked to leave the examination centre by the invigilator.
Jose, who was Inspector General Thrissur range, was asked to go on compulsory leave after the incident.
He has denied charges of any malpractice.
A preliminary inquiry report of the Deputy Registrar had also gone against the Inspector General of Police.
A department-level inquiry had also been initiated against the IG.
