allegedly carrying illegal timber was confiscated near Konwai crossing in Palamau district today, forest department sources said.
The department had set up a flying squad following reports that illegal woods were being transported by public transport.
The bus, which was intercepted by the forest officials near Konwai mode, was taken to the Medininagar Forest office, where the passengers were allowed to go and the vehicle was confiscated.
The bus, bus on its way to Panki from Medininagar, was carrying six wooden slabs which were purchased illegally, the sources said.
The driver and conductor of the bus as well as the seller and the purchaser of the slabs were absconding, the sources said adding that an FIR was lodged against them.
