Two minor boys allegedly committed suicide by jumping before a speeding train after a departmental store owner accused them of stealing from his shop, police said here.
A relative of one of the boys has filed a complaint against the shop owner for abetment of suicide, they said.
Mayur Digambar Kokate (17) and Kunal Sanjay Jadhav (15), who worked at the Amit Apna Bazar at Devlali camp, took the extreme step on Sunday night by jumping before the Mumbai-Bhusawal-Vidarbha Express train between Sansari railgate and Devlali railway station, senior inspector of Devlali camp railway police, Rajesh Akhade told reporters.
The store owner, Devendas Rohera, had allegedly scolded the two boys for stealing a tin of edible oil from his shop, intimidated them and prevented the duo from continuing their duty following which they ended their lives.
Shridhar Uddhav Rokade, a relative of one of the deceased boys, yesterday lodged a police complaint against Rohera alleging that he abused the teenagers, levelled theft charges and abetted their suicide.
The angry relatives of the two boys and other residents of New Stationwadi locality at Nashik Road yesterday took out a morcha demanding action against Rohera.
According to state government's shops inspector Balasaheb Bagul, action could be taken by police, if it was found that the store owner has flouted norms under the Child Labour Act.
