Increase in attack on security forces in JK in 2013: govt

There has been an increase in attacks on security forces in Jammu and Kashmir last year, government today told Parliament.
While 53 secuirty force personnel were killed in 2013, 15 were killed in 2012. Last year, a total of 67 terrorists were killed while 15 civilians lost their lives in terrorist violence.
73 terrorists were arrested during 2013.
"There has been a substantial decrease in the levels of terrorist violence including the fatalities of the civilians over the last three years. However, there has been an increase in the targeted attack on the security forces in the year 2013," Minister of State for Home R P N Singh said in a written reply to Rajya Sabha.
