Global research and analytics company Evalueserve has set up a joint venture with Sony and law firm Hazuki International for offering intellectual property related services.
The JV, IPValueserve, will offer Japanese corporates innovative and highly efficient new process of filing and prosecuting patents in the US, Evalueserve said in a statement.
"We have worked with Evalueserve for some time, and believe that its ability to reduce the cost of US patent applications by 30-50 per cent without compromising quality will be beneficial to many Japanese companies," Sony Head Global IP Toshimoto Mitomo said.
Since Japanese companies are among the heaviest patent filers in the US, there will be substantial demand for services, Hazuki International founder Yoshiaki Kameya said.
Hazuki International will be responsible for translation, legal review, and filing at the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) through US lawyers.
"This partnership will help in growing our prosecution support business and will also be a valuable addition to our core services -- IP search, licensing analytics, innovation intelligence, and R&D information services," Evalueserve Head IP and R&D solutions Urs Dommann said.
Evalueserve will be responsible for drafting office action responses in English and checking the quality of English translations.
Set up in 2000, Evalueserve has more than 2,700 professionals worldwide.
