Elated over Lok Sabha poll results, BJP leader Amit Shah today said it was victory of the people of the country which was headed for a "positive change" and India's success story will move forward so that it regains its rightful place in coming times.
With BJP doing well in Uttar Pradesh which has 80 seats, Shah, who scripted BJP's stunning comeback in UP, said the performance of Congress and Samajwadi Party in the state showed that members of theirr two families have only managed to win.
"This is the people's mandate. This is the victory of the people of India. This is India's victory.
"BJP accepts this mandate to provide good governance. In the coming days, a positive change is going to take place in the country's political environment. India's success story is set to move forward under Narendra Modi and India will regain its rightful place of glory in coming times under Narendra Modi's leadership," he told reporters.
Shah said it was both good and bad news that only two members of the ruling Congress family and some members of the ruling Samajwadi Party won in Uttar Pradesh while candidates of all other parties lost.
He said all records were broken by BJP in Uttar Pradesh where the party was leading in 73 out of 80 seats so far.
BJP leader Prakash Javadekar said those who indulged in hate-Modi campaign have all lost in this election. "People of the country have disapproved of the hate-Modi campaign, be it Congress, Nitish Kumar's JD(U), Mulayam Singh Yadav's Samajwadi Party, Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party and Lalu Prasad Yadav's RJD," he said.
Shah said ever since Modi was declared the Prime Ministerial candidate, the tide in favour of him and the party had turned into a "tsunami".
