A sharp reduction in room tariffs in 5- and 4-star hotels around the world in 2014 benefited Indians travelling overseas, according to a recent survey.
As per the Hotel Price Index (HPI) report by Hotels.Com, the reading for 5-star hotels in New York saw a steep fall of 18 per cent, which offered rooms to Indians at Rs 32,070 per night on an average, from Rs 38,904 in 2013.
Prague, the capital of Czech Republic, was not far behind either where the average room rate came in at Rs 11,889 per night after a drop of 14 per cent from Rs 13,842 in 2013, the report by the leading online accommodation booking website said.
Meanwhile, Jakarta (Indonesia) led the way in the 4-star category and recorded the steepest fall at 19 per cent, down at Rs 6,328 in 2014, from Rs 7,826 in 2013.
Boston (US) saw a 13 per cent drop at Rs 17,660 and Seoul (South Korea) fell 12 per cent, providing Indians with cheaper 4-star accommodation at Rs 9,299.
