The plant, set up at a cost of Rs 35 crores by Auto Profiles Limited (APL), a large-scale engineering company at Adityapur industrial area in Seraikela-Kharsawan, has the capacity to produce 700 units of chasis long member per day, said Bikash Mukherjee, Chairman-cum-Managing Director of the company.

Mukherjee claimed that the new chassis long member plant, which is 5th in the country, was the most sophisticated and indigenous plant in the country compared to the four existing plants including Tata Motors at Jamshedpur and Pune, Ashok Leyland in Chennai and Asia Motors Works (AMW) in Bhuj, Gujarat.

However, all these four units have been using imported materials while the painting facilities were situated separately, he said adding that the new facility was the first of its kind to produce finish product with painting after the raw materials were fed into it.

Among its list of clientele, Auto Profiles Limited was a major ancillary unit of the country's leading automobile company Tata Motors.

Stating that the existing chasis long member unit at Tata Motors plant was old and producing as per requirement, he claimed that the new facility would certainly would help the leading automobile company to meet their demand as the product quality will be world-standard.
