Inspector suspended for breach of protocol

A police inspector was suspended today for breach of protocol during an Independence Day function here yesterday, officials said.
Inspector Ranjit Singh has been placed under suspension while two other officers have been issued show cause notices, they said.
The action was taken as several Congress leaders boarded the police gypsy when Punjab minister Navjot Singh Sidhu, who was the chief guest, was on it to inspect the "guard of honour", the officials said
MLA Satkar Kaur, the district's Congress chief Chamkaur Singh Dhindsa, former minister Inderjit Singh Zira and party leader Harinder Singh Khosa had boarded the vehicle, they said.

When contacted, Gaurav Garg SSP confirmed that the Inspector on duty had been suspended.
