Superintendent of Police Ranjan Kumar Sharma said that a team led by sub-inspector Nilesh Brahman arrested Sandeep Suresh Lalwani (28), a local, on a tip-off.
Lalwani allegedly confessed to have sold several stolen cars in the last one year. While four cars were seized from his godown, four others were seized from buyers in Ghatanji, Wardha and Yavatmal.
He is suspected to have sold another 25-30 stolen cars in the region.
The gang allegedly bought old cars from scrap dealers, and used their chassis numbers and registration documents to pass off stolen vehicles as legitimately sourced ones.
Further probes into the case are on, the SP added.
