An Income Tax Official was today arrested in Warangal district of Telangana after he was caught allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 20,000.
The CBI's Anti-Corruption Branch said a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 was registered against Sashi Kumar, senior Tax Assistant, Income Tax Office.
He was booked on the basis of a complaint citing demand of illegal gratification of Rs 20,000 for doing an official favour, a CBI release said.
A trap was laid at Income Tax office in Warangal and Sashi Kumar was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe amount from the complainant, it said.
Subsequently, he was arrested and searches are being conducted at his office, the release added.
