Tamil Nadu government's high tech publicity vans with 15.75-foot width and 6.25-foot high LED screens feature short films on the slew of welfare measures and "achievements" of the ruling AIADMK regime. The screen could rotate 360 degrees and can go up to a height of six feet.
All the 32 districts are being covered by such publicity vans which screen films in important public places, a senior government official said.
The publicity blitz encompasses all the welfare measures of the government led by Chief Minister Jayalalithaa and her efforts to take the State to numero uno position.
A host of welfare measures are being implemented in Tamil Nadu including 20 kg free rice to PDS card holders, highly subsidised essential commodities including cooking oil, laptops to students, and an entire gamut of 'Amma' brand of services from the popular Amma canteens to pharmacies.
Recently, Jayalalithaa handed over the publicity vans to the Information and Public Relations Department bought at a total cost of Rs 20.8 crore. She also released a CD of documentaries and jingles on the achievements of the State government.
Ruling party campaign highlights the "unparalleled achievements" of their party supremo on all the important issues including the Cauvery and Mullaiperiyar by securing the interests of the State, a senior party leader said.
AIADMK's arch rival DMK is also upbeat with the campaign of party treasurer Stalin who is going gungho with his second leg of Namakku Name (We for ourselves) campaign to mobilise support. He is currently in Coimbatore and will be covering the rest of western Tamil Nadu soon.
