ITBP team scales Mount Dhaulagiri

An ITBP expedition team today successfully scaled Mount Dhaulagiri, the world's seventh tallest peak located in Nepal.
The 25 personnel team of the border guarding force was flagged off from here on March 10 by Union home secretary Rajiv Mehrishi.
"Seven members of the squad, including two high-altitude sherpas, today successfully climbed the Mount Dhaulagiri. The team successfully managed to reach the summit at 1:00 PM today," Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) force spokesperson Deputy Commandant Vivek Kumar Pandey said.
He said the squad that conquered the peak was led by Second-in-Command Ratan Singh Sonal and the remaining members of the expedition team will attempt the final summit in the next few days.

The 8,167-metre tall peak is located in Nepal and this will be the first expedition of the force to this mountain.
The mountain-warfare trained force has scaled 206 peaks, including the world's tallest Mount Everest, till now.
Dhaulagiri was successfully climbed for the first time by a Swiss-Austrian-Nepali expedition in 1960.
The ITBP, a paramilitary force under the Union home ministry, is tasked to guard the 3,488-km Sino-Indian frontier and its border posts are located at altitudes ranging from 9,000-feet to 18,700-feet.
