J-K govt directs JDA to expedite delayed projects

Jammu and Kashmir government today directed the Jammu Development Authority (JDA) to take time- bound actions on delayed projects including the multi-tier parking at a bus stand here.
While reviewing the progress of the multi-tier parking, Secretary to Government, Housing and Urban Development Department (H&UDD), Satesh Nehru today emphasised the need for expediting the project, keeping in view the traffic congestion in the area.
Nehru directed the Vice Chairman, Jammu Development Authority to take time-bound action and announced that the (multi-tier parking) project shall be inaugurated within a week.
Public and businessmen in Jammu winter capital city have held protests over the delay in setting up of the multi-tier parking and shifting of the bus stand over the last one year.
Nehru also reviewed the progress of sewerage project including work on the Sewerage Treatment Plant at Bhagwati Nagar, main sewerage trunk, which also suffered due to delay.
The Housing Secretary also stressed that the work still needs to be expedited. He directed the Chief Engineer, Urban Environmental Engineering Department (UEED) to get the project completed by the end of March next year.
He was informed that the sewerage treatment plant at Bhagwati Nagar shall be completed within one month. It may be re-called that the project is being implemented at a cost of Rs 90 cr.
Reviewing the progress of the revised Katra Master Plan, Nehru directed that the draft revised Master Plan of Katra may be put in public domain for inviting objections from the general public.
