"Vigilance Organisation caught Peer Shakeel Ahmad, working as Horticulture Development officer Zone Doru, Anantnag, red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe amount of Rs 10,000 from a complainant," a spokesman of the SVO said here.
He said the complainant had lodged a written complaint with Police Station Vigilance Organization Kashmir, stating that he has approached the officer for allotment of Fruit Shed under MIDH Scheme in his favour.
The officer in turn demanded bribe amount for Rs 10,000 from the complainant for the purpose, the spokesman said.
A trap was laid in which the officer was caught red- handed. The bribe amount was also recovered from his possession and he was arrested on the spot, he said.
The entire proceedings were conducted in presence of an independent witness, the spokesman said.
