President of a Belgian association, which seeks to ensure peace in Jammu and Kashmir, today briefed the state Governor N N Vohra about the findings during his study tour of the state.
President of Belgian Association for Solidarity with Jammu and Kashmir (BASJAK), Paul Beersmans apprised the Governor about the opinions expressed by different sections of the society in Jammu and Kashmir during his meeting, a Raj Bhavan spokesman said.
The Governor appreciated Beersmans and his organisation for their efforts to provide the deeper understandings which may lay the basis of sustained peace and normalcy, the spokesman said.
The BASJAK is an association of people concerned about Jammu and Kashmir and its population, and are working to ensure lasting peace in the state.
Vice-Chancellor of Sher-i-Kashmir University of Agriculture Sciences and Technologies-Kashmir, Dr Tej Pratap also called on the Governor, the spokesman said.
Dr Pratap briefed the Governor, who is the Chancellor of the University, about the academic programmes of the University once it reopens after the winter break, he said.
The Governor discussed with Dr Pratap about the establishment of new Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) at Gurez and Changthang and the extension project at Zanskar.
He also asked the Vice-Chancellor to take all required steps to re-examine this area covered under the new hybrid fruit species, as one of the measures to enhance productivity.
Former state DGP M M Khajuria also met the Governor and shared his views on the current security environment and certain growth and development issues, particularly the need to revamp the higher education system, the spokesman said.
The Governor complimented Khajuria for continuing to raise voice on various public matters important for the development and growth of the state.
