Hitting out at the State government for its failure to address problems of various section of people in Jammu and Kashmir, a chain of protests were witnessed across the city on the opening day of the Budget Session of the State Legislature here today.
While the Jammu and Kashmir national Panthers Party (JKNPP) led by state general secretary Anita Thakur raised its voice for the immediate redressal of the problems faced by Jammu migrants, National Youth Corps (NYC) protested outside Press Club here against the "criminal attitude" adopted by the state towards their regularisation under Prime Minister Package.
All J&K SRTC Volunteer Retirement Employees Association on the other hand demanded immediate release of their remaining dues on account of their VRS and 6th pay commission implementation, while Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Front (JKDF) asked for increase in the old age pension.
Leading a group of Jammu migrants towards the Civil Secretariat, the JKNPP raised slogans against the NC-led government and questioned government for failure to implement the Supreme Court orders, in which it had directed the government to treat Jammu migrants at part with Kashmiri migrants in terms of relief and other facilities.
"Why state government is not implementing the orders of the Supreme Court? If Kashmiri migrants are getting all the benefits why are these migrants being bereaved of all such entitlements?" Thakur asked.
She appealed to the members of the Assembly to come out and support the genuine demands of these migrants who have been hit by militancy and were fighting for their rights since last so many years.
