Mehandra Rager, resident of Ajeta village of Gandoli police station area, went missing last Saturday when he was returning from Kota, Additional Superintend of Police N L Pavan said.
His car was found with blood on the steering wheel, while his shoes were found near a canal on Kota-Khatkat road, Pavan said.
On conducting inquiry, including tracing mobile numbers and call details, police found that Rajer had faked his death in order to marry a girl from Biyawar area, he said.
Rager also asked the girl to keep her mobile switched off for two months as he would take time to settle in his fresh profession, Pavan said.
The police is trying to locate the youth in Surat city on the basis of his phone number, he said, adding, the girl has been taken into custody and inquiry in the matter is on.
The Rager community, on the other hand, claimed that the youth was kidnapped.
