Jeera edged down 0.29 per cent to Rs 15,700 per quintal in futures trading today, tracking a weak trend at the spot markets due to sluggish demand amidst adequate stocks position.
At National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in September declined by Rs 45, or 0.29 per cent to Rs 15,700 per quintal with an open interest of 16,776 lots.
On similar lines, the spice for delivery in October eased by Rs 30, or 0.19 per cent to Rs 16,025 per quintal in 6,117 lots.
Analysts said offloading of positions by speculators, triggered by subdued demand at the spot market, mainly influenced jeera prices in futures trade.
