Militant killed in encounter in Kashmir's Uri sector

Security forces launched a search operation in Qazinag Dhar area of Uri sector following information about presence of militants there

An unidentified militant was killed in an encounter with security forces near the Line of Control in Uri area of North Kashmir's Baramulla district today.

The exchange of fire started at around 7 a.m after security forces launched a search operation in Qazinag Dhar area of Uri sector following information about presence of militants there, an army official said.

So far, one unidentified militant has been killed in the operation, which was going on till last reports came in, the official said.

He said one AK-47 rifle also has been recovered from the scene of the gunbattle.
