"Deeply disturbed and pained by the happenings in the last three days, the Governor has appealed to people from all communities to maintain communal harmony and peace in the state," a Raj Bhawan spokesman said.
The Governor also asked leaders of all political, religious and social groups and members of the civil society to join hands to reinvigorate inter-community bonds and strengthen societal harmony.
The Governor had been kept in the loop by the Chief Minister about the situation in Kishtwar, the spokesman said.
