DGP Ashok Prasad said that action would be taken against erring policeman. "No one is above the law. If someone has broken the law, has to go through a legal process," he asserted.
The lawyers have gone on an indefinite strike paralysing working of the judiciary for three days in protest against assault of their colleague by police here.
They observed strike and held demonstrations at the High Court complex in Janipur area against police and demanded suspension of the erring police officials including the station house officer (SHO) and an impartial inquiry into it.
Meanwhile, Jammu Bar Association President M K Bhardwaj told reporters that they will continue their indefinite strike in protest against the incident and demand suspension of the erring policemen.
