Ruling National Conference (NC) today constituted the party's Election Campaign Committee to manage and oversee the party's campaign for the Assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir.
"NC working president Omar Abdullah will head the committee which will include the party general secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar and additional general secretary Mustafa Kamal," a party spokesman said.
He said senior leaders Abdul Rahim Rather, Chowdhary Mohammad Ramzan, Mian Altaf Ahmad, Ajay Sadhotra, S S Salathia, Mubarak Gul and Vijay Bakaya will be the members of the committee.
Party's provincial presidents for Jammu, Devender Singh Rana, and Kashmir, Nasir Aslam Wani will also be part of the committee, he said.
The spokesman said Omar presided over a series of high-level meetings and instructed the committee to take the achievements of the party in the government during the last six years as well as the party's vision for the future to the doorsteps of the people.
Meanwhile, well known political and social activist and a member of a prominent Shia family from central Kashmir's Budgam district, Aga Syed Mohsin Al-Safvi Al-Mosvi, joined the party here, the spokesman said.
He said Mohsin was welcomed into the party fold by Omar, who described his joining as a shot in the arm of the National Conference.
"Aga Mohsin is a young and dynamic socio-political and religious leader and will strengthen the NC's effort to involve more and more credible and young people in our endeavor to seek greater political stability, sustained peace, prosperity and youth empowerment in the state," Omar said.
