Over 300 JKSRTC employees under the Voluntary Retirement Scheme attempted to march towards Civil Secretariat from Press Club area but were stopped by police, leading to a minor clash.
Police resorted to minor cane charge to disperse the protestors.
The employees raised slogans against the government for not clearing their pending dues of cost of living allowance and grant of arrears on account of implementation of the Sixth Pay Commission.
Speaking to reporters, president of the VRS employees' association, Dev Raj Bali said, "The government has failed to pay attention to our repeated protests during the past one year. They have turned a deaf ear towards our demands.
Over 500 employees of JKSRTC, who had taken Volunteer Retirement Service in 2011, claimed that their dues have still not been paid by the government.
They appealed to the state government to consider their demands and clear pending dues of all VRS employees as soon as possible.
