Police rescues 8 kids being forced into labour

Eight children, who were allegedly being taken to Jaipur to work as labourers in a factory, were rescued from a train here and one person was arrested in this connection, police said today.
The children, hailing from Gaya district of Bihar, were rescued from the train going from Sealdah to Ajmer yesterday, GRP circle officer Surendra Tiwari said.
During patrolling, police noticed that eight children in the age group of eight to ten years were traveling in the general compartment of the train, Tiwari said.
When questioned, the children revealed that they belonged to Gaya district and were being taken by a man named Guddu Alam, he said.
Alam was taking the children to Jaipur where they would have worked as labourers in a factory and Rs 1,000 was given to the parents for their children, he said.
Guddu has been arrested and investigations regarding other members of his team allegedly involved in child trafficking is going on, he said.
The children have been sent to a shelter and their parents have been informed, he said, adding that investigations are going on in the matter.
