Following the Ministry of Human Resource Development's (MHRD) initiative to promote awareness (about cashless transaction) in universities and colleges across the country, the university community is urged to get acquainted with digital payment initiatives, JNU Rector Prof Chintamani Mahapatra said in a a statement.
"The process requires your active participation so that all levels of transactions (receipts and payments) in the campus becomes digital.
"The role of the students and their active participation is critical to spread awareness among people within the JNU campus as well as nearby areas, villages, shops, markets, including select households and family members," he said.
For registration, acknowledgement to such participation, the students, NCC and NSS volunteers, and employees may visit the MHRD website for more details, he said, adding JNU will also hold workshops and training programmes for student volunteers, staff and faculty in the campus during the coming week.
In the wake of demonetisation, the HRD Ministry is planning a month-long campaign, beginning December 12, to spread awareness about digital transactions among university students and teachers across the country
He had said various educational institutions are making efforts to ensure a digital campus but it is just a small part of the story. As part of the campaign, each student will be asked to join digital platform and initiate their family as well as 10 others towards cashless transactions.
