A referendum was held yesterday on the unilateral imposition of a UGC gazette issued in May last year by the administration, violating all norms of statutory bodies. 3,455 students participated in it and 98.35 per cent of them voted against the gazette, a JNUSU statement said.
The popular vote was meant to gauge students' views on the UGC notification that makes viva the major criteria for admission to M.Phil and Ph.D, and cuts down seats for admission to these courses.
