JNU woman scholar alleges she was beaten up by classmate

A 27-year-old JNU woman scholar has alleged that she was beaten by a fellow student, police said today.
In her complainant, the woman scholar has alleged she was "beaten up, followed and threatened" by Rajaram Yadav (27) on September 21, police said.
The victim and the accused are students of Asian Studies in JNU, said a police officer.
"A case has been registered under sections 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 354D (Stalking), 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation), 509 (Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) against the accused who was granted bail. Further investigation is underway," said a senior police officer.
