In a film that changes continuity from earlier "Terminator" installments, human resistance leader John Connor is transformed into a cyborg by Skynet and ordered to annihilate humanity, reported Digital Spy.
It's up to his mother Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke), time traveller Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) and the heroic T-800 known as Guardian to stop Skynet and save John's soul.
Along the way, they must do battle with the menacing T-1000 (Lee Byung-hun) and a younger version of the T-800.
Director Alan Taylor's sequel has received the blessing of James Cameron, who created the franchise back in the 1980s.
