Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Dr Nirmal Singh today said the BJP had entered in an alliance with PDP to honor the mandate of the people of providing a transparent and corruption-free government.
"BJP has entered into alliance with the PDP to honor the mandate of the people of the state and provide transparent, corruption-free and people-friendly government, power for us is a mean to serve the people," Singh said, during a function organized to mark the 131st birth anniversary of Pandit Premnath Dogra here today.
Singh, said that the BJP being in the government in the state was the result of the seeds sown by Dogra who had stood for strengthening nationalist forces, equal treatment to all the regions and had played a key role in "Ek Vidhan, Ek Nishan, Ek Pradhan" movement.
"The month of October is very sacred and important for us as number of events like birth anniversary of Maharaja Gulab Singh, Ram Navmi, Dussehra, Pandit Premnath Dogra birth anniversary and accession day, all fall in this month and all of these occasions carry positive significance and message for the people," Dr Singh said.
He said today was not only the day to pay tributes but to take pledge to fight the forces which are working to create wedge between the state and rest of the country.
He said a pledge has to be taken to chalk out the state's future role while keeping in mind the supreme sacrifices of Indian soldiers, security forces, policemen and the civilians, who laid down their lives for the cause of the nation in Jammu and Kashmir.
He also declared that River Tawi would be developed on the pattern of Sabarmati river in Gujarat, the work for multi- tier parking at bus stand and Panjtirthi would be accelerated, border tourism in Suchetgarh developed, Yoga Centre set up at Mantalai, glory of historical Mubarak Mandi complex be restored, among other projects.
