"The role of the schoolteacher is unparalleled and cannot be compared with any other profession, as it is the teacher who not only inspires the student for better studies but also imbibes the interest in the subject," Jung said, speaking at the ceremony at the Thyagraj Sports Complex here.
This is for the first time the Directorate of Education organised a felicitation ceremony for teachers and students of of government, government-aided and public schools in Delhi.
The government-aided school students also fared well, with Priyanka Kuchhal from Queen Mary's Senior Secondary School, Tees Hazari topping in Commerce stream with 96.8 per cent, K Sidharth from Andhra Education Society Senior Secondary School, B-3 Janak Puri, scoring 96.2 per cent in Science and Alphonsa Tom from Kerala Senior Secondary School, Block-M Vikas Puri scoring 95.2 per cent in the Arts stream.
