Budget gives major chunk of new trains to Western, Central rly

Indian Railway's two major zones- Western and Central - headquartered in Mumbai, have received a major chunk of the new trains proposed in the 2014-2015 Railway budget presented in the Parliament today.
As many as 58 new trains, including five new 'Jansadharan' trains and an equal number of premium group of trains have been proposed in the Rail Budget presented by Railway Minister Sadananda Gowda.
The proposed Mumbai- Ahmedabad bullet train service would also fall under Western Railway.
Interestingly, both Western and Central Railways have got equal share in these new proposed trains.
In the budget, a new Mumbai Central-New Delhi Premium AC express and one Jansadharan Train on the Ahmedabad-Darbhanga Jansadharan express via Surat route has been proposed, apart from five new express trains on the WR.
These trains are Bandra (T)- Jaipur Express (weekly) Via Nagda, Kota; Mumbai-Palitana express (weekly), Ahmedabad-Patna express (weekly) via Varanasi; Ahmedabad-Chennai express (Bi-weekly) via Vasai Road; Hapa-Bilaspur express (Weekly) via Nagpur; Indore-Jammu Tawi express (weekly) and Rajkot-Rewa express (weekly).
Besides, special pilgrim circuit has been identified, on which Gowda proposed to introduce specially-packaged trains.
Similarly, Central Railway has also got nine new trains with two Janasadharan and four AC express trains.
As part of the Rail Budget, Gowda has proposed to introduce Janasadharan express on the Jaynagar-Mumbai and Mumbai-Gorakhpur routes.
AC express trains in the Central Railway, proposed in the budget include Lokmanya Tilak (T)-Lucknow (weekly); Nagpur- Pune (weekly); Nagpur-Amritsar (weekly) and Nizamuddin-Pune (weekly).
The express trains announced on the Central railway route are Bidar-Mumbai express; Lokmanya Tilak (T)-Azamgarh express and Mumbai-Kazipeth express. All these trains will be running on weekly basis.
