Police said that a joint team of Industrial Area Police Station and Crime Branch had succeeded in working out the gruesome case of kidnapping and murder of the minor child with the apprehension of a juvenile.
The police said the juvenile had been apprehended from here today and booked under relevant sections of the law.
On being questioned, the alleged accused had disclosed that on the day of Holi, his cousin had entered into an altercation with the father and uncle of deceased child.
"When he failed to execute his plan, out of frustration, he kidnapped the girl child and murdered her and disposed off the dead body in the forest area," they said.
"Investigation in the case continues. The apprehended Juvenile shall be produced before the competent court," police said in a release.
The child was reported missing from outside her home on April 10. The body of the girl was found in the forest area nearby the next day.
