Mohammed Idris was arrested on the night of January 31, and a local court granted him bail yesterday, he said.
The RPF got information around 10.30 pm on Wednesday night that a passenger was travelling with a five-kg LPG cylinder in the AC coach of Delhi-bound Bhopal Express, the official said.
Idris was arrested under Section 164 of the Railways Act (unlawfully bringing dangerous goods on railway).
He was produced before a court here on February 1, which sent him in judicial custody, he said.
Idris is a resident of Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir and a student of an agriculture college there.
He had come with some other students to attend a month- long training programme in Bhopal, and was taking the cylinder home on his return journey, the official said.
About 20 other students were travelling with him when he was arrested, the sub-inspector said.
