About 100 villagers and relatives of the youth assembled at Kalibari in Kathua district and blocked the highway for half an hour this morning, police officials said.
A youth identified as Said Mohammad was crossing the river Ravi yesterday when the water level suddenly increased and he was washed away in the river.
The protestors demanded a search to trace the body should be immediately launched.
The traffic on the highway was blocked resulting in heavy traffic jam as long queues of vehicles were stranded on the highway.
After assurance, the protestors lifted the dharna and the traffic was restored on the highway.
