Kerala to offer concession on interest payment on coop loans

Kerala government has decided to offer concession on interest payment on loans taken by farmers through co-operative societies in 2012-13 for farming activities.
An amount of Rs.40 crore has been earmarked for the purpose, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy told reporters after a cabinet meeting.
The concession would be available on loans taken for activities like paddy, fish farming, pepper and banana cultivation, he said, adding, it would be available for those who make one time payment of the loan amount arrears.
The Cabinet approved a new Solar Energy Policy for the state, he said.
Against the background of increasing incidents of domestic violence against children, the Government has constituted a committee to study the situation and submit a report,he said.
The committee report came up for discussion in the Cabinet and it was decided to give approval in principle to the policy on steps to prevent atrocities against children.
