Khattar flags off first batch of students for SKCP

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today flagged off the first batch of students for the Saksham Skill Certification Programme (SKCP) under the Saksham Yuva Yojna.
The programme, launched as a pilot project, is a brainchild of the Haryana Vishwakarma Skill University (HVSU). The YMCA University of Science and Technology in Faridabad is providing the technical support to the initiative.
Khattar launched the programme through video conferencing and addressed the students, an official release issued here said.
"The government has set a target to attract Rs 10 lakh crore investment in various sectors and to generate 18 lakh jobs in the state in the next 15 years," he said.
The Chief Minister said about five lakh jobs would be created through the Skill Development Mission and the Skill University.
He said initiatives like the SKCP can play an important role to provide skill development training to the youth of the state.
Earlier, in his welcome address, vice chancellor, YMCA university, Dinesh Kumar said the programme is a significant step taken by both the universities to promote skill-based education in the state.
The university has plans to run the programme in Faridabad Gurugram, Kurukshetra, Hisar, Rohtak and Rewari districts of the state in a phased manner, he said.
The course is of six months duration, including three months of 'On the Job Training' with an industry. The training would be in various areas, such as communication skills, life skills and technology adaptability along with the professional skills.
