The family of the deceased, Harish Sharma, has now written to the Ministry of External Affairs which has said the investigation of the case has been taken up in high priority by the Uganda government.
The incident took place when Harish (31), who hails from Delhi and worked as the general manager in a private firm in Kampala, Uganda, was shot dead by a security guard of the company on September 29 in presence of its owner.
According to the investigation carried out by the Ugandan police, security guard identified as Najibu Buruhani (33) entered the office of Harish Sharma when he was discussing some business matter with Abhay Bansal, the owner.
In the letter to MEA, dated October 6, brother-in-law of the deceased, wrote that he found it extremely shocking and the circumstances suspicious under which the deceased Sharma was killed in presence of the firm's owner.
"The work place, the house of Late Harish Sharma and the owner were under CCTV surveillance showing the entry of the guard Najibu Buruhani in suspicious circumstances... The culprit has not yet been apprehended by the police and progress of the investigation has also not been apprised to us, to know the motive behind killing of my brother-in-law ...," he wrote.
Replying to the letter, MEA has informed him that the case is under investigation but no arrest has been made till date.
It has also come to light that Sharma had told his friends that he felt a threat to his life in Uganda.
"Sharma had told me that he received threat calls around April this year, from a number that belonged to one Altaf Hasan. He had filed a complaint in this regard with the Indian embassy in Uganda and had also filed a complaint. He said he had also informed Abhay Bansal," one of his friends claimed.
