The 18-year-old actor, whose latest movie 'Slow West' premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, will play the younger version of the character, whose older part was portrayed by Alan Cumming in 2003 instalment 'X-Men 2', reported Aceshowbiz.
Singer took to Instagram to share the news. "Excited to welcome kodismitmcphee to the cast of XmenApocalypse as young Nightcrawler," he wrote.
Smit-McPhee has joined previously-announced cast members which include Alexandra Shipp, Sophie Turner and Tye Sheridan. The three stars are set to play young version of Storm, Jean Grey and Cyclops respectively.
