The victim along with three other workers, engaged in construction of a building at Municipal Colony locality, had taken shelter under the tree as the town was lashed by rains and the gale.
The strong winds uprooted the tree which started falling down. The three workers ran to safety but the other man was trapped under the tree and died on the spot, police said.
Police said several trees in different localities in the town fell under the impact of the gale which accompanied the brief spell of rain.
