The government has convened an all party meeting on March 7 to iron out differences on issues relating to the ambitious land acquisition bill.
Sources said the meeting has been convened by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath after several MPs including Basudev Acharya (CPI-M) raised objection about certain clauses in the bill including compensation package and rehabilitation.
They said the bill which was moved in the Winter Session of Parliament is likely to be taken up for discussion in the ongoing session before it goes to recess.
The government was not in favour of sending the bill again to the standing committee and hence decided to call the all-party meeting to find out a compromise.
The bill makes it mandatory to take the consent of 80 per cent of people whose land is taken for private projects. The revised bill also makes mandatory obtaining of consent of 70 per cent of the people whose land will be for acquired in the case of public-private partnership projects.
