Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee chief Pilot defended the provisions of the Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, legislated during the erstwhile UPA regime, and said the amendments being brought by the Modi government were "anti-farmers".
In a statement here, Pilot said the charges in the land act were an attempt to deprive farmers and poor people from their land rights.
The previous UPA government had given a two years' term to execute the act, but in the Modi government's ordinance this period is five years so that farmers and poor land owner can be exploited, he said, adding the entire exercise was done to follow capitalists' ideology.
