However, according to doctors, he should continue his treatment at AIIMS in New Delhi where he was being treated for leukemia, as the hospital here, which is associated with GSVM Medical College, does not have an oncologist.
Pramod Kumar (49), a resident of Patna, and his family members were injured in the train derailment when they were returning to the Bihar capital in the ill-fated train, GSVM Medical College chief A K Gupta said today.
He was told that he should get the operation for the fractures done at AIIMS as the doctors there are aware of his medical history, he said, adding that the medical college was also ready to arrange an ambulance to send him to AIIMS for treatment.
However, Kumar is insisting on getting the operation and treatment for blood cancer conducted at Hallet hospital as he said he was satisfied with the therapy here, he added.
Tests are now being carried out so that Kumar can be operated upon by tomorrow, Navneet said.
His wife and son are also being treated here, he added.
He said there are many victims of the train derailment admitted in the medical college and they are being treated for free.
150 people were killed in the train mishap which occurred on November 20 at Pukhrayan in Kanpur Dehat district.
