Resident doctors at Safdarjung Hospital continued their strike today demanding enhancement of on-duty security for them on the premises.
The doctors said they won't call off the protest unless a written assurance is given from the Delhi and Central governments to provide "proper security" at hospitals.
The doctors went on strike last evening after a junior resident doctor was allegedly manhandled by the attendants of a patient at the emergency ward.
An FIR has also been filed at the Safdarjung Enclave police station.
"A first-year PG student was manhandled by the attendants of a patient at the emergency ward of the hospital as they wanted their patient to be examined before others out of turn.
"Last Friday, a female resident doctor was allegedly manhandled on-duty by attendants of a patient in the paediatric ward. Such instances of violence against doctors are not stopping. We do not have any security," said a junior resident doctor.
With the residents doctors on strike, the services are being managed by the faculty members.
