Life convict suffering from cancer dies in UP jail

A 55-year-old man serving life term in a murder case died from liver cancer in the district jail here, police said today.
The inmate, identified as Kayum, was jailed in 2009 in connection with a murder case. Following his conviction in the case in 2014, he was sentenced a life term, Jail Superintendent A K Singh said.
Kayum had earlier been taken to hospital for cancer treatment and then lodged back into the jail. Today after his complaints of pain, he was rushed to hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival, he said.
The Superintendent added that an inquiry has been order into the case.
