Lok Adalats settle 9 lakh cases in Raj

Lok Adalats organised under Rajasthan government's 'Justice at Your Doorstep' campaign to resolve land-related disputes in rural areas, have settled 9 lakh cases across the state till date.
According to the data released by the government, nine lakh cases have been settled in about 4,000 Lok Adalat (mass courts) camps organised across the state. The mass courts, which were started on May 18, will continue till July 15.
In Bundi, as many as 996 revenue cases have been settled in Lok Adalat camps across the district till Tuesday, District Collector Neha Giri said.
The mass courts are held at panchayat headquarters across the district. They settle revenue cases through counselling, and compromise between the parties, she said.

Kishan Lal Sharma, an advocate, here said such courts not only benefit the common man but also reduce the number of pending revenue cases in the courts.
For instance, the court settled a long-pending agricultural land dispute in Nandgaon village under Hidoli block of Bundi district yesterday.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Hindoli block, Jaiveer Singh Kaleir said the case related to entitlement of agricultural land between Rameshawar and Lodkiya was pending at Hindoli SDM court since 2004.
The matter was settled at the mass court when Lodkiya produced a sale letter registered on May 16, 1947, Singh said.
On the basis of that letter, the entitlement of the land was awarded to successors of the real owner after 68 years, the SDM said.

None of the parties involved in the case had to pay any fees here, he said.
